Vacation Weather

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

An important part of putting together a holiday is to check the weather of your destination at the time of year you plan to travel. Naturally, certain areas are going to be warmer than others during certain times of the year, and a place’s geographical location could change nearby temperatures and precipitation levels. Coastal cities may have cooler breezes. A regular hot spot for vacationing tourists, the beaches of San Diego has an excellent reputation for warm weather, rain is minimal damage to outdoor activities.

Temperature-wise, the San Diego beach holds a strong average of moderate warmth. As farther inland temperatures can easily reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit, San Diego’s hottest average occurs in the month of August. Compared to other locales, a 77.5 degree average high can be extremely attractive. With temperatures at such a moderate range, enjoying the beach can be a full day activity, as the weather does not become so painfully hot during the day.

San Diego also benefits from low precipitation totals throughout the year in comparison to other locations in the United States. Even if a vacationer were to enjoy the winter months, which are traditionally the wettest in the area, they could expect around 2.28 inches of precipitation in the heaviest month of the year, which is January. In the summer, precipitation is minimal, making beach conditions perfect.

In the summer months, when most vacationers hit the beaches, the sky is at its cloudiest for the year. In the winter, the sky is more likely to open up, giving more sunlight for the city. While some see this as a detriment to their beach experience, it can also provide cooler temperatures to keep the whole vacation experience more comfortable.
